OPENING REBUILD
- Added LSS logo and custom GENESIS logo.
- The Kelvin sequence remains fully intact.
- No young Kirk and young Spock scenes. These moments highlighted character traits (rebellion, logic) that are more effectively explored through the adult arcs and dialogue later in the film.
REFRAMING NERO
- The film resumes with Nero being captured by Klingons and his escape from Rura Penthe.
- The addition provides context for where Nero has been during the 25-year gap since the prologue.
- Reconstructed the interrogation scene with new ADR.
IOWA SETUP
- Added a custom Earth establishing shot before the Iowa diner sequence.
VULCAN ATTACK AND ENTERPRISE ASSIGNMENT
- Removed Kirk’s bedroom scene.
- Cut Uhura’s scene about detecting a Klingon distress call.
- Moved the Vulcan attack to occur right after Starfleet receives the distress call.
- Removed Uhura’s reassignment from the Farragut and using Spock’s favor to board the Enterprise.
- No Spock Uhura romance.
NERO’S ATTACK ON KLINGON REWRITTEN
- Removed Kirk searching for Uhura after the PSA broadcast. He now runs directly to the bridge.
- Removed all references to the Klingon attack. The idea that a number of major Klingon vessels were destroyed without Pike, a seasoned captain, being aware of it didn't make sense.
- Pike now calls for a scan based solely on instinct.
CLARIFYING COMMAND DECISIONS
- Removed Pike’s line that Kirk wasn’t supposed to be on the ship. It conflicts with his immediate decision to promote him to First Officer.
- Cut Pike’s second order about returning to rescue him. He now gives only one instruction: rendezvous with the fleet.
- This eliminates later contradictions in the Spock/Kirk argument and clarifies that Kirk’s choice to return is based on instinct, not mixed orders.
- Additionally replaced Kirk’s reply later on as he saves Pike to reflect this change.
STEALTH SEQUENCE OVERHAUL
- Replaced the heroic score during the Titan approach with a tenser, more atmospheric cue to better match the mood of a stealth operation.
- Removed Kirk’s orders to Sulu about engaging the Narada if they gain a tactical advantage.
- This early foreshadowing undercut the impact of the Enterprise’s later return during the rescue. Its removal makes that moment more rewarding.
- Removed Uhura and Spock's moment and Uhura’s first name reveal.
FINAL CONFRONTATION CLEANUP
- During the Narada’s collapse, retained Kirk’s offer of help Nero but removed the sidebar with Spock.
- Nero now responds immediately, allowing his final words to land without interruption or awkward timing.
ENDING RESTRUCTURE
- Rescored the end sequence, spanning the medal ceremony, Pike’s farewell, and the Enterprise’s relaunch.
- Spock Prime’s final line changed for a fitting farewell.
- Removed Spock Prime’s closing monologue.
- The final montage of the crew and ship plays under the remaining track instead. Footage slowed and vocals removed.
