Star Trek: Genesis
The Future Begins Again
Synopsis
A story built on urgency and earning command. One captain sees clarity. One cadet proves it. No beastie boys. No forced romance. Nero’s presence builds earlier, and the story plays out without distractions.
Editor's Note
Star Trek was never a franchise I considered myself a fan of, which made the 2009 film such a surprise. It pulled me in immediately with its energy, emotion, and characters, while still making the world completely accessible to someone unfamiliar with its history. With Genesis, I wanted to preserve what already worked while tightening the story around Kirk’s journey and the formation of this crew. The film was already one of the cleanest I had worked with, so this became a more restrained edit, focused on sharpening character choices, preserving more of Nero’s mystery, and letting Kirk’s growth drive the story.
